Ilvaite - Huanggangliang Complex, Inner Mongolia, China
Very likely the second finest find of Ilvaite crystals currently known on the planet. Fine crystals of Ilvaite, a Calcium Iron Sorosilicate, are exceedingly uncommon, and the find at the Huanggangliang Complex in Inner Mongolia Province, China, rivals the best ever found from the Russian Far East. This is a rather large example for the species! One of the most unique things about Ilvaite is that its structure contains 2 valences of Iron, both Fe2+ and Fe3+. This specimen has the added bonus of microcrystals of Hedenbergite, along with minor crystals of Actinolite and Arsenopyrite. Specimen comes mounted and labeled, ready for your display.
