Minerals
Calcite - Dexing Copper Mine, Jiangxi, ChinaFrom a new find at an older, well-established mining area, this large cabinet specimen is studded with 2 generations of Calcite. Smaller white Calcite with larger ( 20mm) translucent, honey-coloured crystals of Calcite. The crystallisation of the specimens from this find is truly wonderful! Thicker modified scalenohedra, many doubly terminated, with classic 'nail head' terminations. Crisp, sharp, and with excellent contrast, this specimen is certain to be a joy in any collection of fine minerals. Specimen comes labeled, ready for your display.
Minerals
Calcite - Fengjiashan Mine, Hubei, ChinaA spectacular example of a fundamental mineral, Calcite. A basic Carbonate of Calcium, Calcite is one of the most common minerals on this planet. It can form in more than 50 different crystal habits and has hundreds of uses. It is used heavily in the pharmaceutical industry as antacid tablets, Calcium supplements, and as a filler and/or binder for other medicines. It is used in animal feed as a dietary supplement and in industry as a precursor for the manufacturing of Lime.Crystalline specimens like this one are highly prized by collectors, and many collections have their own Calcite subset as a part of a larger collection.
Minerals
Calcite - Liancheng Mn Deposit, Fujian Province, ChinaThe big Calcite find near Longyan, Fujian Province, China happened almost 9 years ago. Several others have happened in the area since then, and nice specimens are still coming out today. This specimen was recovered in NOV2017. A good-sized cabinet specimen with heft! The Calcite crystals are well-defined, 6-sided cyclic twinned crystals with flat terminations and darker areas more heavily included by Manganese. These Calcite specimens fluoresce wonderfully red under MW/UV light. Specimen comes labeled and ready for your display.
Minerals
Calcite - Manaoshan Mine, Hunan, ChinaFrom recent workings at an older mining area, the Calcite specimens from the find at the Manaoshan Mine at the end of last year are really quite something! The crystallisation is stunning. While not very fluorescent, under MW/LW UV light, they reflect a bright purple/white. Specimen comes mounted and labeled, ready for your display.
Minerals
Calcite - Shaxi Mine, Anhui, ChinaSide-by-side showing the brilliant fluorescence of the new Calcites from the Shaxi Mine. Taken under 365nm LW/UV light, and the same specimen under normal daylight. No, no editing other than adding the text to the photos. Even the crystals of this common mineral are quite peculiar. The 'feathery' intergrowths show an almost pearly luster to them, and when backlit, they show a very faint pink colouration. Ionic substitution of Mn+ is generally considered the activator for fluorescence in Calcite specimens, and the best pieces from this find absolutely 'Pop' under the lamp. Very few of these specimens, in total, were recovered from this find, and NearEarthExploration was fortunate to acquire some of the best ones. Unless another find happens, you are going to have a very challenging time finding these specimens of this quality.
Minerals
Calcite, Fluorite - Liancheng Mn Deposit, ChinaAn exceptional example of tabular Calcite crystals, CaCO3, with light seafoam coloured cubic crystals of Fluorite, CaF2, from recent workings at the Liancheng Manganese Deposit in Fujian Province, China. The Fluorite crystals have a very thin coating of Calcite on many of the faces, giving the Fluorite a 'frosted' appearance. The Calcite is wonderfully fluorescent pink under MW/UV light. Perfectly sized small cabinet specimen showing exceptional crystallization. The specimen comes with an acrylic display stand and is labeled, ready for your display.
Minerals
Calcite, Fluorite - Longyan, ChinaFrom recent workings at the Liancheng Mn Deposit in Fujian Province, China. Tabular crystals of white Calcite (CaCO3) on light sea-green colored cubic crystals of Fluorite (CaF2). Currently, one of the more interesting recent finds in China. The Calcite crystals show such unusual crystallisation for such a common mineral. I have a personal fondness for specimens from this find. Specimen comes mounted and labeled, ready for your display.

Minerals
Calcite, Siderite, Hematite - Leiping Mine, ChinaCalcite. CaCO3. But not just any ordinary Calcite. The find from the Leiping Mine in 1996 rewrote our fundamental understanding of how minerals crystallize. It's a basic temperature/pressure differential, and Calcite is the most studied mineral for how this happens. Calcite has 57 known different crystallization habits, and Dovetail twinning is the most uncommon. This specimen does not fluoresce in the way you think it should. There is no Mn-activator. There is very little (if you squint your eyes hard enough and the surroundings are truly pitch black) to no reaction to LW/MW-UV light. Specimen comes unmounted and labeled, ready for your display.

Cuprite - Liufengshan Mine, Anhui, ChinaA spectacular specimen! Cuprite is one of those minerals that should be more common than it really is. A simple Copper Oxide, the conditions for Cuprite crystals to form have to be exactly perfect. Thus, good, clean crystals of this species are rather uncommon to come across. The find at the Liufengshan mine in Anhui Province, China, stunned the world! Sharp, well-defined, and almost too perfect to be hoped for, these specimens fit exactly with the defined standard for exceptional Cuprite crystals. A well-sized cabinet specimen perfectly suited for any collection of fine minerals. Specimen comes labeled, ready for your display.

Fluorite - Huanggangliang Complex, Inner Mongolia, ChinaFrom the very prolific Huanggangliang Mining Complex in Hexigten Banner, near Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Province, China, comes this rather unusually coloured Fluorite crystal cluster on Matrix. As a Mineralogist, I do not care for 'trade names' of minerals, but the word 'blueberry' is a very accurate description of these specimens. The deep blue color and the overlapping modified cubic crystal faces do indeed cause these crystals to resemble blueberries! The colour is completely natural - no waxing, dying, or other colour enhancements. Every specimen in my shop is guaranteed to be 100% natural. These rather unique specimens are held in high regard and are a must-have for any collection of fine minerals. Specimen comes mounted, labeled, and ready for your display.

Ilvaite - Huanggangliang Complex, Inner Mongolia, ChinaVery likely the second finest find of Ilvaite crystals currently known on the planet. Fine crystals of Ilvaite, a Calcium Iron Sorosilicate, are exceedingly uncommon, and the find at the Huanggangliang Complex in Inner Mongolia Province, China, rivals the best ever found from the Russian Far East. This is a rather large example for the species! One of the most unique things about Ilvaite is that its structure contains 2 valences of Iron, both Fe2+ and Fe3+. This specimen has the added bonus of microcrystals of Hedenbergite, along with minor crystals of Actinolite and Arsenopyrite. Specimen comes mounted and labeled, ready for your display.

Lazurite in Marble - Sar-e-Song, AfghanistanAn excellent example of Lazurite from one of the longest continuously operating mining areas in the history of the world. Lazurite, the mineral that makes lapis lazuli blue, has been mined in the Kokcha Valley near Sar-e-Sang for at least 9,200 years. Once more valuable and more highly prized than Gold, the pigment made from this mineral can be found in ancient artworks in Europe and Egypt, and those same mines still operate today. Here is a fantastic example of the colour held in the highest regard for the species! The specimen comes mounted and labeled, ready for your display.

Native Copper - Chengmenshan Mine, ChinaA spectacular example of Native Copper. Thick, heavy dendritic 'stacks' of cubic crystals without matrix. A friend of mine works at this mine, and he both loves and hates these pieces. He loves them because they increase the value per ton of the ore, and he hates them because they can sometimes clog up his cone crusher. This is one of the bigger ones that clogged his crusher. An amazing example of a common element in its finest form, and a checklist item for any collection of fine minerals. Make this one yours quickly, or someone else will be showing off in their display. Specimen comes labeled and with an acrylic easel stand, ready for your display.

Orpiment - Jiepaiyu Mine, ChinaA fantastic specimen of Orpiment - an Arsenic Sulfide - from the Jiepaiyu Mine in Hunan Province, China. Easily one of the largest Arsenic deposits in the world, and producer of some of the largest Orpiment crystals ever found. Arsenic is so much more than just the 'King of Poisons'. It is a metalloid (having properties of both a metal and a non-metal). A lot of research has gone into just what, exactly, Arsenic can do. It can be found almost everywhere on the planet in small amounts, and yes, a lot of the food you eat contains trace amounts. Under certain conditions, it decomposes easily, and As-ions are quickly snatched from the soil profile by plants, fish, fungi, and transported by water. It is not something you can easily get away from. It is even found in many medicines due to its preservative qualities. Ready for display in any collection of fine minerals. Specimen comes mounted and labeled. Keep in mind, this isn't one that you want to handle frequently. Make certain to wash...
